signature plants
A garden should ideally have a few signature plants that recur throughout the garden, this creates a calm and natural impression without becoming boring. The stylish impression is reinforced by many of the same variety.
keep it simple
When I design plantings, I often think in combinations, preferring fewer plants but more of the same variety and preferably tone-on-tone. Plants that highlight and reinforce each other and are allowed to take up space are often very beautiful.
